The bust of a Dryad, a mythical Tree Spirit/ Forest Nymph from Greek mythology, fabricated from mild sheet steel and wire using a combination of traditional blacksmithing and modern fabrication techniques.

Dryads were said to live in, and be bound to, their trees to the point that if the tree died, so would they. Although believed to be shy creatures, they were said to punish mortals who cut down trees without first seeking their approval.

On the original sculpture, the steel was left without being coated in lacquer so as to allow the surface finish to slowly change colour and evolve over time, like plants, but any similar commissions can be lacquered upon request to slow this process.
